The power to spend two counters from it to essentially draw a card is immense when it costs no additional mana, and the fact that you get +1/+1 counters for lands or spells is the cherry on top, or was it the keyword soup
In addition to being highly dependent on combos, the price and success rate are also low, so it's a terrible performance
Virtually all of them are going to be stronger, and offer either a better depth of gameplay, new cards, or something more than the basic minimum needed to play
